MATCH REPORT: 25.09.05 - MANOR PARK ROYALS

25-Sep : Manor Park Royals 2 - 2 Newbury Forest

Hello once again lads to another extract from alfie's corner. I know this week's is late but hey we do all have day jobs you know, apart from Z cos he just does mega £££££££££££££££££££'s deals with him self NEWAY lets get down to business!

With last weeks exuberance still in the veins I think the general thought was we are playing well and this could be our year. Last week gave us the platform to believe that what we are trying to do here is something good and meaningful. However, this week's game showed how funny football can be, and how much work we have to put in week in week out if we want to achieve.

For the first 15 minutes we played like we did last week, heads up, off the ball running making space and creating chances. As soon as they got the first, it was as if we had gone back to 2004 NF, arguing, no effort and not much team spirit.

Half time I think was good for us it gave us the chance to sit down and have a think about what we can do, and what we have done, and boy what a difference a half can make. "nd hal we hassled all over the pitch. If we didn't win the first we'd win the 2nd and 3rd it was fantastic. for a good 20 mins we bossed the game and got the two we deserved. As in any game the opposion will always have a stage in the game where they are on top. i think that we dealt with that at times weel and still tried to play our game.

Their equaliser felt like a defeat becuase of time and how it went in, but what we must take from the game is that we were pissed off becasue we drew.

These were games we would of lost last year and said "oh were better than them we can beat them" That attitude seems to have gone now and been replaced with one of we should have one, shit we havem't so we now have to put in some extra work to ensure that we win next time. If this is the attitude we all adopt then we will only get better. Look at us now

Neway lets get down to what you have all been waiting for the ratings

Ed Poli GK - 6/10
many may say that keepers are based on their mistakes, i think ed would admit some blame for the equaliser. However, to be fear he made two fantastic saves within the game when we were 1 down just to keep us in the game. He seemed very assured around the box when collecting through balls, which will only give the defence encouragement when he's behind them.

Chris "oh my God your playing me at right back" Woolbank RB - 7/10
Chris himself i think will admit that he had a shaky start, but as the game went on he seemed to grow in involvement within the game. Adapted to playing out of position, but ensured he did the right things right, and the simple things well, ended the game well.

Marc "Cut on the Head cos i'm a pissed dickhead" Wakley CB 6/10
Very competent performance by our founder and former keeper. Maybe tried to force things in the first half when we were down, but always tried to play the right way. His partnership with GDM is coming along well. He now needs to kick on and maybe start bringing the ball out a little more if he has the time and space.

Gary "GDM aka one move Murph" Murphy CB 7/10
Very similar to Wakley, didn't have a bad game, is always going to be Mr Dependable which is great we do need that, sometimes I want to see if its tight up top, maybe he may bring it out from the back more and start moves from the there.

Rob "Carlos" Hurst LB 6/10
This was a classic example of how far we have come as a team. Rob himself will admit to being at fault for the goal, however he picked himself up from that and ended up clearing one off the line. It took him a little while to get back in the game after the first goal, but once he was, he made sure of his particapation. Just needs to forget about mistakes and continue with the game cos we all make them.

John "The Turk" Hassan DM 6/10
I
thought he was very much like the Kasier, you didn't know he was there, but he was. In the defensive side i thought he broke play up wel and won the balll, on the flipside i felt that the final ball forward was not always the best. It might not have been the worst ball, but it wasn't the best. However did a job to cover left back. verseatility score defeintely going up on pro evo

Mike "Harewood" AM 7/10
This might be a surprise for the 2 goal hero, but much like John I though the final ball wasn't always the right one. However what a presence on the field. I think everyone can see the composure on the ball is fantastic let alone his big black presence in the box. definitely gives us more options when going forward.

Little "Polish" John AM 7/10
Couldn't live up to last weeks fantastic display, but put a good game in.
His quick feet will always cause problems as they did. His work rate was good, however always has to follow his man back to enusre ther is enough help back there. Overall another good display by the little Pol.

Frankie "Javier" Rodergese Spanish Monkey Perez WR 6/10
Difficut game for him to get into. After last week performance and during training he's a must in the team. Final ball wasn't always as good as last week. The good thing though is that he never gives up and always seems to be trying and giving 110%. Whatever flank he's on the full back knows they will always have cover. So even if he's not having the best of games effort is always there.

Davide "Zesty" Zarcaro WL 7/10
I am one who believes on his day he is a good player for the team, the question is when and how often are these days/ Sunday i feel was one of those. Everything didn't come off, and yes there were times when he could have passed or shoot but what he was ,was positive. Had a superb shot pushed round the post Was involved in both goals so there was an get up and go there. Maybe he had a point to prove, all I ask is that point be there week in week out.

Alfie "Hasselbaink" Egembah CF 7/10
I didn't think i had as much effect as last week, but i felt I kept therre two centre halves busy. The fact they kept changing their team around in the second half was a good example of how ell we played. back to me, had a few half chances but felt sometimes we didn't play the way we could hurt them. This i feel lead to me sometimes not feeling part of the game. On the plus side I think there was some good link up play with the other forwards and attacking midfield.

Subs

Danny "Twinkle Toes" Spiers AM 6/10
I didn't feel he had long enough on the field to make a huge impact. However when he came on he tried to do the right things and the right way. showed alot of energy and willingness to get forward. you never kow he may end up, up front.

Dave "Goal Poaching Machine" CF 6/10
More of the same really, showed sopme good touches up there though, and tried to bring people into the game. i can defintley see goals in him if he gets a chance.

MOM was a very hard one, i thougt we all palyed okay but i gave it to Chris, but I must admit Z was a close 2nd. Chris gets it for just playing out of position and adapting to it. he work hard all game for not much praise, well done chris.

neway now you guys can leave me alone, next week might have to be done by someone else cos I don't think i'm gonna be there any takers, but just remember it will always be
