MATCH REPORT: 19.03.06 - VALENCE UTD

19-Mar : Newbury Forest 2- 1 Valence Utd

Another gritty performance, but had touches of quality throughout is the way I would describe this game. It was clear to seem that we were the better team and we had the quality to break down their defence, but as normal we took our time to get running. It was was scrappy over the first 20 mins with both teams giving the ball away cheaply, which in turn didn't allow for great football to be played.

However, the more we tried to get on the ball and knock it around the better we looked and the more chances we created. We seem to be getting very solid at the back now, and even when they do break through Graham seems to be back to his best, with som outstanding saves. We still seem to have a few lapses of concentration which lead to their goal but I do feel we are moving in the right direction.

Big John was as cold as ice to tuck away the penalty, and Jono was in the right place at the right time to tap home the opener. We many returning to the team and the prospects of new players next year I think promotion is a must.

Ratings

Graham "Have a moan" Tritton GK 8/10
I thought he had an outstanding game, always seems to have his angles right and just always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. We can only think of what could of happened if he was in goal from the start of the season.

Chris "Right back forever" Wallbank RB 8/10
Good to see him back from injury, slotted in as if he hasn't been away. I think he is a true find and is making the right back position his. One of the balls he but in from right back was fantastic. We can only ask for more and soo he will be Cafu.

Marc "Boring Git, but I've got a Golf now" Wakley CB 7/10
It gets boring when you talk about Marc, cos all you can seem to say is that he's solid as a rock and doesn't put a foot wrong. I'm glad to say any doubts we had of his abilities are well and truely gone. However he nearly scored the most stupidiest own goal ever, so i had to mark him down for that alone.

Arnold "I brought him to the team" Djejde CB 7/10
Another one who seems to have just slotted into the team as if he's been their all season. I think he will be a great prospect for next year. Solid and fast and is always talking. Needs to work a little on distribution, but i'm sure that will come during pre season

Andrew "No MOM for you" Lane LB 7.5/10
Again a good performance by him, loving his energy up and down the left, has given good width and balance. Lets hope we can keep you next year.

John "The Kasier" Hassan DM 8.5/10 MOM
His work rate and energy epitomismed what Newbury forest was about. He seemed to be everywhere, and did everything with his casual self. I think this one was well deserved.

Alfie "Back in Midfield Baby" Egembah 8/10
Back in midfield, felt more involved in the game. Tried to be that box to box player and help the team out with my energy. Should of done better with Andy's cross, but felt i had a solid game.

Dave "TT" Zarcaro 7.5/10
Busy as ever when he's in the middle, held the ball well and committed defenders. Just seemed to run out of steam a little, but was always a threat with thte ball at his feet.

Jon "Lil Pol" Galligan WRF 6/10
Didn't look him self, and we could tell he was playing on an injury. However i don't think we did our best to get him the ball. I'm sure this is only a blimp in what has been a fantastic debut season.

Gareth "I've got a gig" Foot CF 7/10
To be fair to the non moveablr object, put a great header back across goal for the opener. Always gave us target to hit when we had to get the ball forward quickly. I would of wanted him at times to slow the game dowm and bring others into it a little more, but hey he was probably tired from his gig last night.

Jono "III" Thrid WLF 7.5/10
Scored a fantastic goal, it had power, pace and swure. Seriously his tap in was good, but he was always a threat with his pace up top. Good to have him back after injury. Just nbeed to get you 100% and then we shall see the welsh wizard in action.

Subs

Rob "Have it" Hurst 7/10
When he came on he did nothing wrong, and yesa you've guessed it slipped into the back 4 like a fish to water. Its good to now seem competition for places all over the field.

Frankie "I'm gonna make my girl come see me play every week" Perez 7/10
Gave us a good outlet on the right, bags of energy and vigour. Glad to see him get on and show us the form he showed at that start of the season. Just needs to keep it going through pre season and into the new campaign.

Well guys thats it for another week, with one more game of the season to go its good to see everyone is still here and up for it. It only looks good for next season.
