MATCH REPORT: 05.02.06 - VALENCE UTD

5-Feb : Valence Utd 2 - 3 Newbury Forest

Well guys after last weeks dismal performance, a win was vital if we had any hope of gaining promotion. What was needed even more so was a desire to get out there and work hard for the team. We were missing a few due to injury and absence, but had a few familiar faces back in the Newbury Forest line up. However as we always do we never like doing things the easy way. I think we get bored of winning comfortably so we think lets give them a few goals head start and see if we can still win. Its like we play for Brazil or something.

As you may have guessed we didn't start to well again, we seemed to panic on the ball a little when we got it and everything just seemed rushed as if we had to play at 100mph. Again the goal we conceded was very sloppy on all parts. It just seem a little that the heart of Newbury Forest had maybe disappeared. Just as soon as that idea had even popped into my head we started to get control of the game more, weren't great in what we were doing but the team started to function more as a unit. Strikers closed down a bit better full backs pushed on when they could, defender dropped off when they had to. It wasn't perfect but we starting to get back to how we played earlier on this season. Low and behold a little pressure gets you a goal. As a Mr Zarcaro would have said it was good time to score 5 mins before half time. But moments after getting our selves back in the game, we shot ourselves in the foot and gave them a second. Half time couldn't come quick enough.

Some stern words from Club Manager and Coach gave everyone the kick up the back side they needed. Second half we came out all guns blazing. Zesty managed to get one of his trademark free kicks by making as much noise as he could to ensure the ref gave the foul, then a quick free kick by Mr Carlos himself enabled Z to squeeze it home. Now we were on top of the game Skipper was bossing the midfield, we were spreading out to the flanks better than we did and we were getting men forward. The winner was only a matter of time. Good play better Lil Jon and myself enabled Fox in the box Mr Foot to tap home the winner. Now we were in front we could ease off a little we still created a host of chance two of which are definitely contenders for wooden spoon award at the end of the season, so Polley and Lil Jon beware. however it was all plain sailing they did come back at us and it took a astronomical save from safe as houses Graham to keep our noses in front. Nevertheless it was a hard fought 3 points, but it was 3 points that were needed and greatly deserved.

Match Ratings

Graham 'Safe as houses, but I don't know your surname' GK 8/10
Even the great man himself would admit that he may have been at fault for one of the goals himself, his second half save was the difference between 3 points and 1 point. I can only take my hat off to you fine display.

Rob 'The returning Mr Carlos porn king' Hurst LB 7/10
Looked a bit edgy in the first half and didn't looked settled. However Second half thought he up his game and started to get forward like we know he likes to, even bloody started making me cover for him, Foe that alone he's losing a mark. Who do you think you are Saturday John. Gary 'Quiet, but still affective in your Head, but lost 5-0 to me in pro evo'

Murph CB 7/10
Seemed a little quite during the game maybe he was still feeling the effects of his drubbing to me at pro evo, but got on with his job effectively, was very unlucky not to score. I expect to see big poppa come out of his shell this Sunday and have a few more roppa dope's.

John "Angry Man I am Maximus Decimus Meridas, Husband to a murdered wife, Father to a murdered son and I will have my vengeance in this life or the next' CB 7/10
Again looked a bit quiet in the first half, but came to life in the second with some vital interceptions, and heaven forbid do we talk about his little hissy fit OH MY GOD. Apart from that look solid as the game wore on.

Chris "The Terrier" Wallbank RB 8/10
Boy am I loving this kids work, he's like a yo yo up and down that line, but a yo yo with bite. Don't let us forget how dirty he is either. Loves a challenge and never seems to give. Excellent response from last week. he was very close to winning MOM this week. Keep it going tart boy, and sort you hair out.

Delboy "Skipper" De rijk DM 9/10 MOM
Was absolutely average in the first half, and too be fair even he would admit he's not been on top form, however I thought that the second half performance was a captain's performance. he lead by example got about the park and did what he had to do. Once on the ball he started to get his passing game going, which helped us get back into the game

Jon "Soon to be a Full Polish international" AM 7/10
When you talk about people having dips in form it sounds like it a bad thing, he has been so fantastic for us that when he has an okay game we all think something is wrong. Even though he seems to be struggling with is health a little still had lost of pluses to his game. His speed of thought and quick feet always make him a good player. I'm sure he will be amongst those collecting awards at the end of the season, one of those may be for not passing and having the two worst shots I've seen, yeah that's right you greedy little .....

Dave "Play on Ref" Zarcaro AM 8/10
what I do like about Z in this role is that he's more central but in a deeper role, so has the ability like he showed to take people on and setup or have shots himself. His attacking ability he will always give us something. all I would want is for him to do a bit more of the other stuff, which I know he is trying to do.

Frankie "Your names too long for me to even think of something funny to say" Perez WRF 7/10
not his best game he has played, but was always a threat down the flanks. Has improved his work rate so he's always up and down that line. What he needs to do is get back to how he was playing at the start of the season when he was flinging in crosses like Beckham. The challenge is there Mr Perez we know you can do it.

Dave "Slowest Punk" Polley CF 7/10
Much improved from last week, I won't lie I thought you were poor mate last week, but I think you have taken that on board and improve with your performance. tried to make the ball stick when it came up to you which gave us a platform to play from. I mean your wide load allowed me space to get in a score.

Alfie "John must think I'm Mr Universal, why can't you just play me in one position" Egembah WLF 8/10
change of position this week but I thought I adapted well to it. allowed me to have a lot more shots on goal. I felt this was one of my better games and gave the opposition something to think. Should have scored more though but hey were not in the premiership yet

Subs
Gareth "Goal Machine" Foot CF 7/10
How some one came come on do bugger all and get all the plaudits for scoring a tap in I don't know. What I will say is he may be the goal poacher we are looking for. And as for the celebration, he must have been off to a gig

Lee "are we gonna see you at training this week" Nicholas WRF 7/10
Gave some more pace up to when he came on, loving his direct play once he's on the ball, was unlucky to score. Again the onus is on you to get down there more often enough and earn your starting place.

Jono "Your not playing until we have doctors clearance" Third Glad to see you come down mate, but your health is more important than anything else. he need you fit and ready to go.

Well guys that's it, see you next week, same bat time, same bat channel and if any of you don't know when that is Thursday at 8:15 Astons hope to see you all there and I do mean all.

Alfie.
