4-Mar
: Hogs Head 1 - 5 Newbury Forest - Tyrell Trophy Semi Final
Hogs Head 1 v 5 Newbury Forest
Cup fever is back again and after the performance in the last game, we needed to get a good result and have a performance to match. Morale seemed high within the camp and everyone was really just waiting to get the game started.
With a few changes to the staring line up the team started the game well. The passing was crisp, the movement was there and the desire to get through was there in abundance. There were plenty of chances but it just wasn’t going in. The keeper made a good save early on from Alfie after great work from Jey. Another free kick hit the post from Alfie too. Against the run of play Hogs Head took the lead. To be fair the team just kept on going and playing the good football they were playing. At half time it was 1-0, but we had plenty of optimism for the second half.
Second half was much of the same good possession and constant pressure, but we were just looking for the break through. This came from the corner specialist Lil John. His in-swinging corner dropped under the bar with the keeper beaten. This was the spur the team needed and Andy Saunders' 20th of the season gave as a 2-1 advantage. Goals from Jey Siva and Alfie Egembah quickly made the result safe. Then came the tactical switch of the century. JH switched Lil Dave with Alfie, mainly due to heckling from opposition supporters. Within minutes, Dave had got his goal and made it 5-1. Even Ferguson doesn’t have that kind of effect.
The remainder of the game was played out and on the final whistle we knew this now meant it was final time all over again.
