13-Aug
: Newbury Forest 2 - 3 Interlink
Season
is now slowly moving forward, and we have another game against our
rivals Interlink. We always know that its going to be a rough encounter
when these two teams play, but hey that’s what makes for good
football.
I
think we would all say that the goals we conceded were a bit scrappy
and it is something that we need to address before the season started,
but on the bright side we look like we can score goals for fun.
We now seem to have a lot more creativity in midfield and in the
wide areas, which can only benefit the team on a whole. An example
of this was Mr Flake Jey Siva but a glorious ball into the danger
zone as Andy Gray would say. The area defenders don’t want
to be in. It ended up being an Own goal, but to be fair I’m
claiming it because I was closest to it and if the defender missed
I would of tapped it in. Overall there were positives to take but
we still have to be careful we don’t get ahead of our selves
Now
for the ratings
Graham
“Newbury No 1” Tritton GK
Thought he was quite unlucky in the game, all the goals could have
been avoided, how ever can see the practice on distribution is definitely
getting better.
Chris
“Animal” Wallbank RB
Took a little while to get in the game but certainly started to
look happy motoring down the wing. He nearly even scored, notice
how I said nearly. Never gonna happen..
Tommy
“DX” Stapleton CB
Did what he does best caused havoc. Seriously thought he was very
good today, seemed to win everything in the air. Put his body on
the line countless times, Newbury through and through.
Andrew
Lane LB
Just what we don’t need one of our better players getting
injured, hopefully he’ll be back soon.
Arnold
“The Rock” Djejde LB
Not his natural position, but is working hard to try and solve a
problem the team may have. His athleticism often helps the team
out of sticky situations.
Richard
“Disco Stu” Saunders CB
With Tommy the pair did dominate the strikers they played against.
It seems weird to say after we lost, but the two played well together
in a simple but effect manner
John
“Saturday John” Hassan DM
Saturday John out in full effect, a few tasty challenges, put its
not like we all don’t expect it. Definitely getting around
the park more.
David
“Skipper” De Rijk DM
To be fair, those 5 mins you played were fantastic before you got
injured. Hopefully you’ll be back soon. We need you for the
season.
Luke
“Mojo Monkey” Mardle AM
Love the aggression he shows when he plays, never lets the opposition
have it easy on the ball. Also seems to be a good attacking threat
when we are going forward.
Justin
“TNT, we want a goal” Caesar AM
Another solid display at left back seems to have an advantage with
him actually being left footed, worked well with Jey down the left.
Dave
“Vegas Baby” Zarcaro AM
After speaking to him at the start of the season, its good to see
Mr Baggio get back to top form. His guile and trickery will always
be need to unlock defences and he does love a threw ball
Danny
“Quiet Performer” Chester AM/WF
Although he may be the quiet performer he always seems to give his
all. A very good all round player who loves a challenge. I think
he may have a very big season in front of him.
Dave
“Loves them Big” Ademakinwa AM
What I think is good about Dave is his liveliness. Defenders think
they have an extra second then all of a sudden he’s on them.
His leap to win balls in the air is phenomenal. If he uses that
energy correctly I can see him have a good season.
Jey
“Flake” Siva WF
Plain and simple some of his wing play was out of this world. But
just like Christano Ronaldo he needs to have an end product, as
we are he is doing that in abundance.
Alfie
“ Mpenza” Egembah
Didn’t score but thought I was always a threat, trying to
work hard with my full back to get him in the game and my fellow
forwards. Link up play is getting better.

Own Goal
Defeat was disappointing but results are not as important as the
performance. It wasn’t vintage, but we are getting their.
We all need to put in a little more work as a team and I’m
sure we can go far.
