MATCH REPORT: 25.03.07 - PLAISTOW

1-Apr : Plaistow 1 - Newbury Forest 3

Plaistow 1 v 3 Newbury Forest

Not the best performance in the world, but at this time in the season it’s about wins and that’s what we needed. At times it was hard work, and we started to give the ball away cheaply, but the quality of the side was shown in passages during the game.

With Tigers losing on the weekend too it does now mean that we are only three wins away from the title. As good as that sounds we will need to up the quality to ensure that we get those wins to make us champs.

The game however in patches was good, we moved the ball around well at times and created an array of chances, one of which was so blatantly in the goal no one can believe it wasn’t given. Andy also decided to miss an even easier chance than his wooden spoon contender he had from an earlier chance this season. However he did still manage to score two, one of which was a good back post header from Lil Dave’s cross and the other a good strike from inside the box. What was even more surprising is he’s learning to pass as well and set Lil Tom for the funniest goal I think I have seen all season.

With absolutely no one around him and about 25 yards out from goal, he’s decided to take this shot first time on the half volley and kick it as high up in the air as it can physically go. Lucky for him there was a strong wind blowing and it some how blew it into the net. He then stands there like as if he meant to do that, YEAH RIGHT.

We saw the game out comfortably, but if it wasn’t for some superb saves by Graham, it could have been a totally different story.
