MATCH REPORT: 28.01.07 - PLAISTOW

28-Jan : Newbury Forest 5 - 0 Plaistow

Newbury Forest 5 v 0 Plaistow (Divisional cup)

Cup fever was back and after last weeks disappointing defeat and we needed to get back to winning ways. As per normal the squad was always upbeat, especially after West Ham being knocked out of the Cup by Watford. We knew that as bad as we felt after last weeks loss, we must take the positives that we played well and deserved the win.

Remembering last weeks rush to warm up everybody was out there early knocking balls around and looking sharp. Game time came around and everyone looked on it and ready for the game. As the game started it was almost instant. Playing for Newbury Forest you tend to realise that in most games we will control the game so the chances will come. As the half wore on we were in control, but we couldn’t get the goal to put us in front. Graham had to make an outstanding save to keep the game level. The half ended level and we were very up beat as to going on and winning the game.

Second half started and again we were on top, we really passed the ball around well and we also exploited them in the wide areas well too. With the full backs pushing on even further the pressure was going to have to tell at some point. The crucial break through came from a corner. Jey Siva delivery was fantastic all day and he put the ball in the danger zone as always. It broke to John Hassan who managed to find the top corner, From then on the goals came at regular intervals. We were still under pressure at times from a side that can play good football, but the weathered them out and continued to dominate the game.

It was a good game which saw us get back to winning ways; we just need to keep this up now as we have the monster top of the table six pointer next week against Manor Park Rovers.

Now for the ratings

Graham “Newbury No1” Tritton GK
Outstanding save to keep us in it at 0-0, earned us our place in the semi final. Absolutely top draw. 8/10

Dave “El Capitan” De rijk RB
Getting back to his mercurial best and more importantly playing himself out of midfield. At one point I felt the wind blow past me as he was getting forward. 9/10

Richard “Disco” Saunders CB
Disco is definitely back, won everything in the air with disco flair, loving your work. 8/10

Nick “Clean Sheet for once” Marable CB
Impressive, commanding performance at the back; kept things simple and got most if not all of his decisions right 8/10

Tom “Fat Boy” Starling LB
Solid performance by the Welsh wizard nearly scored with a great overlapping run. 7/10

John “The Kaiser” Hassan DM
Was so good he took himself off. Took his goal well and was the engine room in the middle of the park. However he will definitely win dirtiest player of the year. 8/10

Tom “Neo from the Matrix” Gibbings AM
As I say every week he did at least one matrix turn during the game. Another solid performance going forward, but he still hasn’t scored.  7/10

John “Car washing Pol” Galligan AM
Phenomenal performance by the Lil Pol. Was at the heart of a lot of good things. Always seems to find space and time. 9/10

Jey “Mr Danishhhhhhhhh” Siva WL
Another great performance by the Danish king and is always a treat down the left hand side. A great member of Dream Team. 8/10

Andy “The Machine is Back” Saunders CF
First off glad he got the monkey off his back by scoring, but we gave us more than that. He set up 2 GOALS, wow wonders will never cease. 8/10

Alfie “Tap in King” Egembah WR
Becoming deadly from 1 yard out, let alone the Beckham style balls being played in. apart from that work well the full backs and other forwards. 8/10

Subs
Dave “Man that’s a long Surname” Ademakinwa AM
Fantastic goal for a start, showed what he can do when in front of goal. Started to use the ball better when in the middle of the park. 7/10

Had some good link up play with Siva down the left, and boy he can run a bit. Good to have him back, its like signing a new player. 7/10
