MATCH REPORT: 27.08.06 - RENAISSANCE SENIORS 'A'

27-Aug : Newbury Forest 5 - 4 Renaissance Seniors 'A

What a game, and what a fight back. The Spirit of Newbury Forest lives on. However as wonder as this comeback was, the same question of why we give teams goals came up. As good a team as we think we are, we cannot give teams 2 or 3 goals. We need to start defending better, because we know we are going to score goals.

Now back to the good stuff, despite only having one centre back we came together well as a team. The second half performance showed grit and determination in abundance. We know we can all play, but even good players have to work hard for one another. As long as we keep this work ethic up we can do really well, but we haveto keep it up otherwise it all goes to pot.

Now for the ratings

Graham “Newbury No 1” Tritton GK
Played well, distribution is definitely improving. Thought he may have got closer to the free kick, but to fair he said he didn’t see it

Chris “Animal” Wallbank RB
Got up and down the flanks well and managed to do cover well at the back. Is getting back to last seasons superb standards.

Richard “One Centre Back” Saunders CB
Maeshalled the back well, even me, tried to make us slow the play down and hold onto the ball. Gave us a good platform to play from n the second half.

Justin “Carlos Edwards” Ceaser LB
Had a solid performance at the back, kept going, and kept supplying Flake with good service.

Tom “Welshy” Starling LB
Came on and had a superb performance at the back. Cover well and tried to get forward as much as he could.

Rob “Carlos” Hurst LB
Getting back to the standard of Galacticos that we know and love. Was always willing to bomb forward

Luke “Kicker” Mardle AM
Absolutely love kicking lumps out of them, but was always in the middle of the good things going on

Danny “Quiet Performer” Chester AM
Best performance I’ve seen him have, Fantastic in the middle of the park. Looked much more comfortable being able to get up and down the park.

Dave “Ginger Lover” Ademakinwa AM
Terrorised them with his pace on the wing, was unlucky not to score.

Jey “Flake” Siva WF
All I’m gonna say is porn in a jar, stupendous goal to win it.

Alfie “Mpenza” Egembah DM
Back in the midfield war fare, and loved it. Tried to just keep the ball moving which became easier in the 2nd half.

Frankie “Spanish Pretty Boy” Perez
Getting amongst the goals and working hard, loving your work.

Andy “You won’t beat me” Saunders
Was up against it in the first half, being marked by an animal of a man. But by the end of the game was running him ragged.

Scorers
