14-Oct
: Newbury Forest 6 v M&B Club 4
I know I have said this before but it really was a game of two halves. One of which we shall not talk about because it was that bad. The other showed the grit and determination we all say we thought we had, but we actually came out and showed.
Lets us not be mistaken this wasn’t vintage Newbury, at times in the first half we looked sloppy as if we didn’t want to be there. However this team is made of stronger stuff, a team spirit that is going to take more than a 4 -1 deficit to make us crumble. It also does help when you have match winners in your team like Jey Siva and Toch Singh who can turn games around on their head. Once these two started all of a sudden we all remembered we could play football. Rather than being second to the ball and looking off the pace, we started making 50/50s into 70/30s. It was a performance that will do us some good, and hopefully make us believe in what we could do this year.
What this shows us is that no matter how good we think we are we always need to do the mundane things like marking and tracking back. Nevertheless a lot of character was shown by all today. Everyone who plays us will know we can get it down and play pretty football. Now they know that their also gonna be in fight if needs must. Well done boys, be proud of yourselves.
