MATCH REPORT: 21-Oct-07 - Tercana (League Cup)

21-Oct : Tercana 0 v Newbury Forest 10

Well as the result suggests, this was a wonderful performance by the boys. They recorded the biggest ever victory for any Newbury Forest side. What was vital to this was the team’s togetherness, to want to work hard for each other and do the right things.

With a game like this it is clear to see that there were many good performances, one of which came from Chris Wallbank. I know what you’re thinking how can a right back be man of the match in a 10-0 win, but the work the lad did today was fantastic. It’s a credit to him because he isn’t the loudest but he always gets on with the job, never lets you down and always gives it 110%, apart from when he’s crying off with fake injuries.

There should also be a mention to some of the others such as Chester, Gibbo and Andy Saunders who all took their goals really well. I mean Gibbo lobbed the keeper so I’m sure we’re not gonna hear the end of that.

Newbury Forest Line-Up

Now for the ratings

Graham “Newbury’s No1” Tritton GK
Definitely back because he didn’t shut up all game, kept his concentration levels throughout the game. 7/10

Chris “Animal Nuff said” Wallbank RB
For a guy the size of Chris to get in mid air a clear the ball with a scissor kick he’s got to be doing something right. Didn’t give them a chance all game. 9/10

Nick “Wooden Spoony” Marable CB
Business as usual for the non-footballing centre back. First clean sheet of the season long may it continue. 7/10

Richard “He’s back D.I.S.C.O.” Saunders CB
Slip back in there like he’s never been away. Still hasn’t conceded a goal when him and nick have played together. 7/10

Jon “I’ll play anywhere and shoot from anywhere” Galligan LB
Only man I know who can play anywhere and still manage to shoot, showing the class he has and why he is so important to us. 8/10

Thomas “1 GOAL and 2 ASSISTS” Gibbings III DM.
Must have been watching Cesc too much, cos it’s starting to rub off on him. 7/10

Dan “IC1 Male” Chester AM
Got the ball rolling with a fantastic strike, never stopped running until he had to go off “injured”, and leave us with only 10. 8/10

Brad “Shoot on sight cos of 1 training session” Gates AM
Hopefully we will do some passing drills at training that will make him passing. Looked a lot sharper and livelier in the middle. 8/10.

Jey “Centre Forward now B” WL
Even when he’s ill he still manages to do some thing, always capable of doing something special. 7/10

Andy “Tutu and Leg Warmers” Saunders CF
Quietly getting on with his job, and doing a great one at that. Always running, always looking, always working hard for the team. 9/10

Alfie “Left foot Lob, Nuff Said” Egembah WR
Took his goal well, and had good link play in the first half. Needed to be a tad more positive when he had the ball in the second. 8/10
