First competitive game for the NFR started brightly with some good football played, making the opposition work to smell the ball, let alone touch it. But when they did get it, they manage to squeeze the ball in form a cross.

Suddenly, we woke up and decided to win the game.

Time for the blitzin’.

Good goals from Tom, finishing well from crosses. Some fantastic work down the left from Jason gave him a goal, as well as a great strike from Conall to continue his goal scoring trend of pre-season. A free kick in from Murdoch went in before a fantastic run by Chris down the left was almost goal of the season contender already. Keeping the ball in with some rapid pace on the half way line, he beat three players before entering the box. A pirouette past another defender put Chris in front of goal to score before he was hacked down. Luckily for us, the ever reliable Tom ‘Goals’ was on hand to do what he does better than anyone. No, not break his collarbone but score a goal. 7-1 up at half time. This game is over.

The second half was more of a challenge defensively as a strong wind meant we faced a barrage of attacks. But we withstood the charge, allowing only one goal in the process. A great way to start the season.
