Newbury Forest Establish Under 18 Squad
Newbury Forest have taken the huge step towards youth player development in establishing an Under 18 squad ready to compete next season.
The boys have already played one friendly and are training with the senior players on a weekly basis.
It is a huge step for a club like ours and it is important that all involved; the Under 18 players and the existing club members make the effort to bind the club together and create a unity throughout the entire Newbury Forest community.
We are already in the process of purchasing training clothing for the squad so they can look the part when on the training pitch and our next step will be to kit the boys out in the much desired Newbury Forest Home and Away strips!
The players are already winning over many fans from the senior players with their enthusiasm for the game and desire to do well. It is no secret that the inexperience within the squad will be a major obstacle to overcome but the commitment to training three times a week will build a solid foundation of technical ability from which they can build on.
As ever, Newbury Forest are always looking to strengthen the club and new players are always welcome. We do hope to have a Reserve team competing next season and this together with the current senior team will provide a great stepping stone into adult football for our young squad who we encourage to try to play at the highest possible level we can offer.
There will be a huge emphasis on the development of these players and everyone at the club hopes that in the not too distant future many of the current under 18 squad all be pushing for and indeed occupying positions within our senior squads.
We wish them well in their first season and look forward to seeing how they progress over time....
